Information to Authors

General

Research papers should be as concise as possible (maximum 6000 words); short notes should be brief (maximum 1500 words). The Journal will also encourage review articles by scientists of repute. Book reviews and discussions on published articles, are welcome. However, discussions on papers should be very brief and constructive and will be accepted upto one year after their publication.

Manuscripts

All manuscripts should be written in English and should be sent in triplicate to

The Editor
Journal of Applied Hydrology
Department of Geophysics
Andhra University

Manuscript should be typed on A4 size (21x30cm) paper with double space and wide margins. The first page should contain the title of the paper, author(s) name, affiliation and full official address. The second page should start with the title and an abstract (maximum 250 words) written briefly to summarise the whole content of the paper. The sub-division of the paper with appropriate headings are left to the author(s). Footnotes must be avoided. The formulae should be typed clearly with sufficient spacings and continuous numbers must be given.

Figures and Tables

All tables and figures must be inserted at the appropriate positions in the text. No table or figure should exceed A4 size including provision for its caption and reasonable margin on all sides. A list of figure captions should be attached separately. The figure numbers must be mentioned on the reverse. Whenever the table and figures are given in separate sheets, mention about their appropriate position in the text may be made in the left hand margin of the manuscript.

All figures and diagrams should be of high reproductive quality. One set of originals on tracing paper or film or photographic (glossy) paper must be sent without folding. All photgraphs must be in black and white. However if the author wishes to include a colour photgraph or drawing, he is requested to send 500 copies of the same in A4 size with its caption included. Large size lettering should be used within the figures to have good legibility after reduction.

Units

All units must be stated in SI units except in exceptional circumstances.

References

The references should be arranged in order and should be presented at the end of the paper. They should be cross-referred in the text with the author(s) name and year. Wherever more than two authors are involved, 'et al' may be used for abbreviation.
When a journal is referred, its volume, number and pages must be mentioned and a book reference should consist of author(s) name, publisher and place. For edited volumes, editor's name should also be included. Sample references are provided below.

Advertisements

The Association of Hydrologists of India born in 1981, as part of its activity to promote and co-ordinate research in hydrological aspects has been publishing the Journal of Applied Hydrology since 1988. It has already caught the attention of Universities, Institutes and various other agencies who have subscribed for the journal. It may, however, be mentioned that the journal cannot be published with subscriptions and donations alone. Hence it is felt that some of the pages of the journal be thrown open to advertisements. We request the various agencies to make use of the offer and strengthen the journal.
